Gingerbread
Ingredients
- 1 stick of butter
- 1/2+ cup of mollasses
- ~50g of grated ginger (optional?)
- 1 egg
- 1 1/2 cup flour
- 1 heaping tbsp ground ginger
- spices (cinnamon, cardamom, allspice, clove, nutmeg, etc.)
- 1/2 cup milk (I use oat)
- 1 tsp baking soda
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375F
- Heat butter & molasses on the stove, set aside to cool
- Mix flour & spices in a bowl
- Add egg & no-longer-hot butter & molasses to bowl & mix
- Warm milk on the stove
- Add baking soda & any forgotten spices to milk & then pour into bowl & mix
- Poor into 9x9 or 9 inch round pie dish
- Bake for ~25 minutes
- Important: cool overnight
- Serve with cream cheese frosting
- Experiment adding lemon, lime, or orange zest
- Experiment adding cocoa powder or chocolate chips
