Lightning utterly thrills me. This photo is one of many photos taken back to back with an intervalometer. There were several strikes in the storm that took this boxy shape.

A vibrant rainbow arcs across golden fields and rural landscape with scattered buildings and trees under dramatic cloudy skies.

I stopped on my way to find clear skies for Perseid viewing because of this rainbow: a huge ground-to-ground double arc. (At this point the double is only just visible in the upper left.)

Golden sunlight breaks through heavy storm clouds over an expansive landscape of scrubland and distant mountains, creating dramatic contrasts of light and shadow.

The sun was streaming strong through that thin cloud gap!
